Frequently asked questions

A psychiatrist is the only mental health provider trained as a medical doctor. My training allows me to consider how your medical conditions, psychological history, gender, and age may be impacting your mental health. I offer holistic treatment combining evidence-based medication management, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and—if desired—support around lifestyle changes.
-
Yes — I deeply enjoy working with patients in longitudinal therapy and have extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I also utilize principles from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in my practice.
If I feel you would benefit from a modality of therapy I am unable to provide, I am happy to share recommendations for local providers.
-
Yes — I am happy to collaborate with other providers.

If we are working together in therapy, we will typically begin by meeting weekly for 50 minute visits; if we are working together solely on medications, we will meet every few weeks for 50 minute visits as we adjust your regimen. As you experience relief from your symptoms, we can shorten our appointment times to 25 minutes and/or space our appointments further apart.
If you are doing well consistently on a medication regimen, you will need to be seen at least every 6 months (and at least every 3 months if you are prescribed a controlled substance) to remain an active patient.
-
I am out-of-network for all insurance companies and require payment at time of service. This allows me to provide direct, personalized, high-quality mental health care without third-party involvement. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I can provide you with a “superbill” to seek reimbursement through your insurance. Note that any labs and prescription medication I order for you can be processed as usual through your insurance.
