Celeste Lipkes is a board-certified adult psychiatrist who completed her residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Prior to entering private practice, she worked at the Charles George Veterans Affairs Hospital as a supervisor of same day services and as a consult-liaison psychiatrist, caring for patients with mental health needs admitted for medical or surgical issues. Dr. Lipkes was a 2020 American Psychoanalytic Association Fellow and continues to attend psychodynamic and analytic educational events and conferences. She currently serves as the referral coordination psychiatrist for Nema Health.

 

Prior to completing medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Lipkes received an MFA in poetry from the University of Virginia. She has taught poetry to high school and college students and led writing workshops for patients and their providers. She is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the UNC School of Medicine where she served for two years as the co-director of the third year medical student Ethics and Humanities course and currently teaches advanced elective courses on illness narratives and ethics.
